Following on from yesterday's story about carbon capture and storage not working until 2030 it's worth reading Fred Pearce's latest Greenwash piece in the Guardian on why 'clean coal' is the ultimate climate change oxymoron.

Carbon Capture for coal-fired power stations "won't work until 2030"

The government is gearing up to grant planning applications for a new generation of coal-fired power stations like Kingsnorth in Kent, site of last summer's Climate Camp. The Lib Dem national position is that new coal-fired generating capacity - which has the capacity to completely derail any attempts to reduce our greenhouse gases - should not be commissioned without carbon capture and storage technology being fitted.

Please ask your MP to support David Heath's Fuel Poverty Bill

Liberal Democrat MP, David Heath was drawn second in the ballot for a Private Member's Bill in December and has decided to adopt the Fuel Poverty Bill that aims to insulate the homes of the least well off and limit the exposure of vulnerable households to high energy bills.
