NewsCycling - a personal response to the Climate catastrophe

Olly Glover is our Liberal Democrat candidate in the previously safe Labour seat of Tooting in south London once held by Sadiq Khan. A daily cyclist and campaigner, Olly is determined to counter the current inertia over sustainable transport choices. He feels inspirational leaders are needed to tackle our climate emergency and air pollution challenges, which will not be solved without the efforts of us all.

He joined the Liberal Democrats, like many others, in the wake of the 2016 referendum, prompted by his concern about Brexit's impact on our community, economy and international influence.

From Road to Rail

Olly`s passion for the environment and addressing climate change led him to pursue a successful career running railways. He currently works in a small company developing future railway links in the south east of England. Green Liberal Democrats have long favoured rail transport to replace at least some of the cars choking up our roads - and just choking our children! So, Olly`s enthusiasm for the rail alternative is just right for a "green Lib Dem" MP.

"Walking and cycling are two of the most effective ways we can make our local transport clean
and tackle climate change. But we need to make our streets and urban areas
much more welcoming for walking and cycling. I have long campaigned
for this and will continue to do so."

"Rail is also an important way to get cars off the streets. This is a significant problem and an urgent problem which our current set of politicians
has ignored for far too long!"

Belief in Community - and volunteering!

Olly lives out the Liberal Democrat belief in community. He supports people living with motor neurone disease and their families. This has given him first-hand experience of the impact on people's lives of a pressured and under-funded care sector. He has also volunteered with people who are homeless, and with children with additional needs. This volunteering experience makes him determined to improve the public services that our community so desperately needs.

Making Change Happen

Olly Glover is a key member of our Green Liberal Democrats team who can make environmental change happen in Parliament, so we'll be doing all we can to help get him elected. Will you join us?
