Kamran Hussain is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Leeds North West and he has called for a more urgent move towards renewable energy in response to the Climate Emergency we all face. News
"We, the Liberal Democrats have always championed green energy and in government, we oversaw the
trebling of renewable electricity generation. But the Conservatives have repeatedly cut support for
green energy producers, damaging the environment and costing British jobs.
Our plan includes expanding renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions, cutting dependence on
fossil fuel imports and generating more jobs and prosperity."

Freeze Rail Fares now!
Increasing rail fares by 2.7% for millions of commuters next year is unacceptable. It's time to get tough - and that starts with enforcing a rail fare freeze now. Kamran Hussain will help @LibDems to cancel this rise and freeze rail fares for the whole of the next Parliament. We need ot make decisions that will reduce road traffic and its polluting effects AND help to tackle the Climate Emergency.

"Under the Tories, Leeds commuters have been catastrophically let down. People are paying way over the odds
for what has often been an appalling service.
"The Liberal Democrats will build a brighter future by freezing fares from Leeds North West to Leeds
for the next five years, saving local commuters thousands of pounds. We will properly invest in fixing our
creaking rail network to improve capacity and reduce overcrowding, so Leeds commuters
are no longer treated like cattle.
"But this is about more than just providing more funding. We will also strip rail companies of franchises
if they don't meet the standards expected of them, and develop new transport mutual companies
to foster alternative competition."
