Sewage

Sewage

In the last two years alone, water companies in England dumped sewage 775,568 times over 5,768,679 hours.

Climate crisis challenges water management. Long periods of drought are followed by days of deluge, rather than moderate showers the UK historically enjoyed.

Water companies haven't kept up despite huge increases in revenue, in an industry with profits of £2 Billion a year. LibDems propose a 16% tax on those profits to update national infrastructure sustainably and quickly.

The Conservative government has hamstrung all the systems that could have required water companies to update sewage treatment systems and install new storm drains to separate storm flow from sewage.

Large estates are dumped in villages often with Victorian legacy drains. These now need to be replaced.

LibDems work positively with the Environment Agency, in Councils and County councils. Government has only cut their staff to the bone. With little oversight and barely any enforcement, this perfect Tory Chaos storm can only end when you join the LibDems (hopefully our sustainable group Green LibDems too), to help us deliver leaflets, listen to people, or lend us you vote in the Shires.
