"The antidote to hopelessness is to take action" says Jane Goodall in this extraordinary message to the whole world, but in particular to young people who may think that our generation has already done irreversible damage to the planet and quality of life they will inherit.

Having explained so much of the harm done by our disrespect for the natural world, she changes gear and starts to spell out why we need to be activists and - just over half an hour in - how to persuade those who don't see it: not by confrontation but through example and inspiration and storytelling.

She explains why we should lobby those now in power and how this can bring and has brought real results and how each of us really can make a difference in our daily lives, from the products we choose to buy to the food we choose to eat.

So watch the video, be inspired by this amazing woman and then take action.
