Environmental Issues in Planning GLD Fringe
The session will preview the debate on the topical motion on Planning put forward by ALDC and the Liberal Group on the LGA.
Adele Morris has been a councillor in the London Borough of Southwark since 2006 and has a professional background in Community Development. She is Deputy Chair of the Environment, Economy, Housing and Transport Board at the Local Government Association (LGA), whose areas of work include Climate Change, Decarbonisation of Transport, Planning, Housing and Town Centre Regeneration. Adele has spoken on behalf of the LGA at Select Committees and All Party Parliamentary Group sessions at Westminster, and regularly chairs and presents at LGA conferences. She is also an LGA member peer, whose role is to contribute to the improvement and learning of local authorities throughout the country.
Martin Horwood is Honorary President of the Green Liberal Democrats and a Cheltenham borough councillor. He was a South West MEP and Vice President of the Parliament's liberal group Renew Europe before Brexit. He was MP for Cheltenham from 2005 to 2015, during which time he campaigned on climate change, fracking and nuclear power and co-authored Our Natural Heritage, the party policy on the natural environment which originated the Local Green Space planning designation now being used by hundreds of local authorities to protect green spaces important to communities.
