OUR TOPIC
Reflecting on "2040 - Join the Revolution" - all the things that are looked at in the film are possible with the current technology, but require a solid political will to put into place. We'll be examining the challenges faced at the grass roots, community and political levels when it comes to implementing green and environmental projects. What are the barriers to generating local sustainable energy resources, whether it is setting up co-operatives or legislation being unnecessarily restrictive and not designed to facilitate change? How can we ensure that any supply chain is capable of taking renewables when they are in place and encourage a permanent change in consumer habits?
SPEAKERS
Ed Tranter
Ed Tranter has worked in media and events for over 25 years. His children inspired him to stop rushing around and look at the world differently, as a result he founded The One Earth Show, a national event to help promote sustainable consumer change. He loves an eco-brick, his chickens and is trying to work out how many times/ways he can reuse and upcycle the old wendy house in the garden. www.oneearthshow.com
Wera Hobhouse
After serving as the party's Housing and Local Government Spokesperson, Wera was asked to lead on the Climate Crisis for the Liberal Democrats. At the party conference in September 2019, she steered through the party's ambitious, detailed and achievable climate policy to reduce most emissions by 2030, and to get to net zero by 2045.
She's known for telling constituents that "MP stands for Most Persistent", and that is how she approaches her politics!
