Local elections 2021 - Capturing the Green Vote
Today's session is a panel discussion about "Capturing the Green Vote"
Our panelists will be discussing and taking questions on what they have done to get green issues on the table during a election. We'll be looking at which methods of green campaigning they have found successful and examining the different methods they have used to engage with the general public/voters to get them interested in "Environmental Politics"
Pippa Heylings - Global Green Change Catalyst
Pippa is a key member of the Green Liberal Democrats and a member of the LibDem policy working group which recently responded to the climate emergency with a clear plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030 and aiming for the target of net zero emissions by 2045.
Cllr Tahir Maher
Having worn many hats within the party not least being a previous English Party Chair, with his role as Councillor Tahir would very much like to see more attention paid to the green agenda. His focus as a Councillor in Wokingham is very much on dealing with issues that support the residents to improve the quality of their lives: community gardens, more public orchards, more cycle lanes, ensuring parks are more family oriented and better services for the elderly so that they have more activities and places to meet up
Cllr Jane Brophy
One of the first councillor `trees champions` for the Woodland Trust, Jane Brophy was elected as MEP for the North West from May 2019, becoming part of our very successful team of 16 MEPs.
Jane has successfully maintained her council seat representing Timperley Ward for around 20 years in Trafford, Greater Manchester and is an NHS Health Professional working in the field of diabetes education. She was part of the Lib Dem Leadership Programme of Parliamentary Candidates and a by-election candidate in 2015. She is an environmental campaigner and long-standing Green Liberal Democrat Executive member.
