Speakers: Wendy Chamberlain MP and Klina Jordan
7.30pm - 9.00pm Monday 22nd June
Chairs: Phil Bennion and Denis Mollison
Chat Moderator: Alison Rouse

Our former MEP Phil Bennion and the Chair of Lib Dem Electoral Reform (LDER) Denis Mollison will be co-hosts for this event called "Electoral reform and the environment" looking at the need to change our democratic system if we are ever to tackle our environmental problems successfully. The chronic problem, of course, for electoral reform is that you first have to win using the First Past the Post system (FPTP) before you can garner enough seats in Parliament to actually CHANGE the system to something much more sensible.

The speakers will be Liberal Democrat Wendy Chamberlain MP, the Party`s spokesperson for Political & Constitutional Reform.

Wendy Chamberlain (Wendy Chamberlain)Originally from Greenock, Wendy has lived in Fife since 2003 with her family.

Following her degree from Edinburgh University, Wendy joined Lothian and Borders Police in 1999, serving for 12 years as a Police officer. During this period she also worked part-time as a Communications Lecturer for the then Lauder College (now Fife College). She then worked at MoD Caledonia, Rosyth, as the Scottish Regional Employment and Training Manager on their military resettlement contract, supporting service veterans into positive employment outcomes before moving to work as a Capability Manager for Diageo. She became the first female Board Member of the Camanachd Association (the governing body for the amateur sport of shinty) in 2017.

She was elected to Parliament for the constituency of North East Fife in the 2019 General Election. Wendy is the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Political and Constitutional Reform, and is also a member of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee.

The other key speaker will be Klina Jordan, co-founder of Make Votes Matter
