GLD Photo Competition 2020 Theme 1 -
Covid19 and Lockdown
How has #Covid19 impacted on your life?
What changes have you noticed such as less air pollution, less traffic and more people walking, cycling and using other firms of transport and active travel.
Please see our Photography 2020 Competition webpage for more details
We are delighted that the first theme of the Green Liberal Democrats Photography Competition - #Covid19 and Lockdown - was judged by Wildlife Photographer Iain Green who has been a professional photographer for over 20 years and writes his own blog
Iain also features on the Flight Free UK where he tells us tells us what led to his decision to stop flying 14 years ago, and how he found the wildlife experience of his career in his own back garden.
When judging Iain did not know the names of any of the photographers - he was not provided with those details. He was asked to give his top 3 and the remainder were in no particular order. Iain judged against the theme and has provided positive and constructive feedback on all the photographs.
Here are the results of #Covid19 and Lockdown with Iain's comments:
Winner Our Hope - Roldan Lumbay

Winner - Our Hope
Such strong composition. With the vibrant back-lit leaves and low viewpoint that accentuates the growth, this is a gorgeous image and a clear winner.
2nd Place - Evening Sun near Whitley Bay - John Appleby

2nd Place - Evening Sun near Whitley Bay
A tranquil scene, my eyes are instantly drawn to the sun drenched bench. A perfectly timed photo - I want to sit on that seat!

Joint 3rd Place - Bike Abandoned
Why, who, when - I've so many questions about how the bike ended up here.

Family Cycling
Perfect timing and I love the shadows too!

I really like the detail and contrast in this scene - but particularly in the steps where the two spaces join.

Lambeth Lockdown
Wonderful detail in the clouds all the way through this skyscape

I love how the action is framed by the trees and the pathway adds the moments before and after too.

So many textures and patterns to enjoy in this look at the garden from above
The Simple Things - Joanne Barton

The Simple Things
A happy image, the uncomplicated composition draws your eyes to the toes.

Time Away 1

Time Away 2
I particularly like the composition in the 2nd photograph - where the veg is centre-stage and clear of other distractions.
Time Stood Still - Joanne Barton

Time Stood Still
Queen Victoria the clear focal point, I like how the many different sources of lighting in this image really add impact.
What No Traffic - Kevin Daws

What, No Traffic
Drawn along the empty road, the effective composition adds to this memory of a key part of lockdown.
