Martin Horwood is Honorary President of the Green Liberal Democrats and a Cheltenham borough councillor. He was a South West MEP and Vice President of the Parliament's liberal group Renew Europe before Brexit. He was MP for Cheltenham from 2005 to 2015, during which time he was a shadow minister for the environment (jointly moving the amendment that raised the UK's greenhouse gas reduction ambition to 80%), campaigned on climate change, fracking and nuclear power and co-authored Our Natural Heritage, the party policy on the natural environment which originated the Local Green Space planning designation now being used by hundreds of local authorities to protect green spaces important to communities.
