By Keith Melton

We know from various contacts that there are members out there who would really have liked ot come to the Green Liberal Democrat conference on Saturday but for various reason cannot get to Nottingham to participate in the debates. We are therefore delighted to be able to tell you that you can at least eavesdrop on two of the most important sessions of the day, LIVE, on your internet devices, whether they be PCs, laptops or even mobiles.

Simon Hughes in the morning

We will be Live-Streaming the morning session from 11am. to 11.45 when Sir Simon Hughes will be giving his introduction to the 30th Anniversary conference of the group. Formerly Liberal Democrat MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, Simon was the keynote speaker at the inaugural conference whch was also held in Nottingham - and that was in 1998. If you want to listen to the session live you need to organise yourself a comfortable seat and then you need to.... >>>>> CLICK HERE (this will show an ERROR message until 11am on Saturday)

Vince Cable in the afternoon

We will then be Live-Streaming the afternoon session from 15.50 through to 17.00. The session actually starts at 4pm with Wera Hobhouse MP introducing our party leader, Sir Vince Cable. Wera is the Liberal Democrat MP for bath and was first elected in the General election last year, 2017. It will be interesting to hear how she is finding the bizarre politics of this country first-hand in the Mother of Parliaments and to discover the extent to which she has found ways of influencing our political decision making in a Green and Liberal way. Life in the House of Commons must be very irksome for someone seeking to bring about radical change to the way we look after our planet.

It is a relatively little known fact that Vince Cable was one of the co-authors of the Brundtland Commission report back in 1987, which introduced us to the, then novel, concept of Sustainable Development. We look forward to his review of how we can move forward to bring about the economic and environmental changes necessary to make our lives and the economic life of this country SUSTAINABLE in the long run. If you want to listen to the afternoon session live you need to organise yourself a comfortable seat, as before, and then you need to.... >>>>> CLICK HERE (this will show an ERROR message until 15.50 on Saturday)

BOTH EVENTS - AND INDEED MANY MORE OF THE EVENTS OF THE DAY - WILL BE RECORDED AND WE WILL PLACE THEM ALL AT YOUR DISPOSAL ON THIS WEBSITE IN DUE COURSE. But, for the time being do please enjoy listening to our live broadcast conference in Nottingham.

Feel free to SHARE this article widely - we would love to make sure Vince Cable and indeed our Green Liberal Democrat views are widely heard. And, if you find you can get to the conference after all, Registration is going to carry on until late evening on Friday, so to join us in Nottingham you need to CLICK HERE >>> https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gld-2018-conference-tickets-43271323694
