Former Liberal Democrat Secretary of State for Climate Change Ed Davey, one of the main movers behind the Paris Agreement, has responded to Theresa May's refusal to join our European partners in protesting against the Trump announcement.

Ed Davey said:

"We've already heard a very strong statement from the Germans, the French and the Italians.

"It is incumbent on Theresa May to join with other people in Europe and with the Chinese to get that message over. Theresa May claims she has a special relationship with President Trump, well now's the time to use it.

"We must stand up to President Trump, point out that he's got bad economics, bad science, and it's time he realised America's responsibility to the rest of the world."

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Ipswich, Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett says "that Environmental protection is a global issue and can only work where countries work together. That is one of our key values and why Brexit is so harmful because coordination in EU environmental laws and protections are vital to protect our planet, and having a US President turn his back on G7 allies is so destructive and sad."
