Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling MP, has just announced the £250m Chichester by-pass on the A27 has been cancelled because the West Sussex Councils cannot agree what option they wish to progress with.
Former MP Stephen Lloyd has started a petition demanding the money be spent instead on dualling the A27 between Eastbourne and Lewes. He said: " In Eastbourne we are very clear what we want and that's a dual carriageway on the A27 between us and Lewes. So let's put pressure on the Tory government immediately to re-allocate that money to building our dual carriageway. We have waited far to long for a decent road. You can sign my petition below."
"Now the money is suddenly available the government has no excuse not to proceed."
