The announcement in December that Rugby Borough Council will reinstate the green bin service in January has been welcomed by Rugby Liberal Democrats, but the portfolio holder responsible for the time and money wasted on this matter should step down.
It has since been announced that council's across Warwickshire will take part in the "Slim Your Bin" campaign helping residents to waste less and recycle more, with no involvement from Rugby Borough Council.
The campaign is free to join and anyone from the Borough of North Warwickshire, the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth, the District of Stratford-on-Avon and the District of Warwick can sign up.
Commenting, Councillor Jerry Roodhouse, said:
"Bad decisions and bad leadership threaten to take over Rugby Borough Council. Residents want to know that they are getting value for money and sensible decisions are being made by those at the top. The portfolio holder for environment has let residents down and should resign."
Councillor Tim Douglas added:
"It is simply not good enough to cut services that residents need and then ask them what they think without providing alternatives. Time and money has been wasted and someone needs to be held accountable."
