A Lib Dem fatal motion to stop an early end to Feed-in-Tariffs has failed pass in the Lords last Tuesday.
The Tory Government are bring forward cuts to the existing support for the solar industry, risking up to 19,000 jobs and could cause irreparable damage to the emergent UK solar industry.
Lynne Featherstone had put down a fatal motion which would have cancelled these proposed cuts and protected a hugely successful Liberal Democrat policy under the Coalition.
The vote was lost 91 to 230.
Following the vote, Lynne Featherstone, Liberal Democrat Energy Spokesperson, said:
"As the Tories uproot any semblance of a green agenda it is the Lib Dems who are standing up to them.
"The Government are putting an entire industry at risk, along with thousands of jobs, they should not have been allowed to get away with this environmental vandalism.
"It is absolutely appalling that Labour didn't turn up to protect the environment against this attack.
"Their leader says one thing and they do another, it begs the question why are the Labour benches going against their own leadership?"
Robin Teverson also pushed the Government on the importance of carbon capture in a low carbon economy. He warned that the Government is turning its back on this area and asked whether the cancellation of the projects in Scotland and Yorkshire earlier this year is a "a new vision of CCS and decarbonisation."
