'Green Investment Bank yet another opportunity lost' - Eluned Parrott
Responding to the awarding of the Green Investment Bank to Edinburgh, Shadow Business Minister for the Welsh Liberal Democrats Eluned Parrott AM said "I am disappointed but not surprised by the Welsh Government's failure to land another major investment.
"Labour's failure to develop a positive working relationship with Westminster has seen us missing out on investment. The Green Investment Bank could have helped retain talented graduates in Wales and would have had a multiplier effect with the strong financial sector Cardiff Council has nurtured.
"The Labour Government's complete lack of respect for UK institutions is driving away jobs and pushing talented Welsh workers out of the country. The Business Minister has refused to meet with the Welsh Affairs Committee and her officials failed to attend a joint session of our Business Committee and the Welsh Affairs Committee.
"I call on Edwina Hart to work with, not against, the people who hold the levers of the UK economy."
The Green Investment Bank will help Britain become the world leader in green technology. It will begin operation in 2012-13, a year earlier than expected, with £3bn of capitalisation and will deliver an additional £18bn of investment in green infrastructure.
