Foster sponsors Passive Flue Gas Systems Bill

December 13, 2011 3:23 PM

On Tuesday 13 December, Don Foster MP sponsored Martin Caton MP's Presentation Bill on Flue Gas Recovery Devices. The Bill promotes the use of an innovative British technology that utilises the waste heat from boilers to provide hot water. The system fits the criteria of the Green Deal as it will assist with reducing emissions and also help in alleviating fuel poverty.

The detail of the Bill reads as follows:

Passive Flue Gas Systems (Strategy) Bill

An Act to require the Secretary of State to prepare and publish a strategy for the promotion of passive flue gas heat recovery systems; and for connected purposes.

1. Passive Flue Gas Systems: duty of Secretary of State

(1) The Secretary of State must within one year of the passing of this Act prepare and publish a strategy for the promotion of passive flue gas heat recovery systems.

(2) Before publishing the strategy the Secretary of State must consult such persons as in his opinion will have an interest in the strategy.

(3) The strategy may contain such ambitions for this technology as in his opinion are desirable and realistic.

2. Interpretation and Citation

(1) In this Act the term 'passive flue gas heat recovery systems' means technology that can use the waste heat from condensing boilers in order to heat water.

(2) This Act may be cited as the Passive Flue Gas Systems (Strategy) Act
