November 8, 2011 10:48 AM

Simon Wright, MP for Norwich South, is backing a campaign to helppeople manage their energy bills - and reveals that he's already benefited fromthe campaign. Later this week, he will be meeting with a range of groups todiscuss how more people in Norwich can be made aware of savings that can bemade.

Responding to a letter he received today from Energy Secretary ChrisHuhne highlighting the new campaign, Mr Wright said:

"More and more people are coming to my weekly advice surgerieswith concerns over their energy bills. The Government has an important role toplay in supporting those who are struggling with their bills. I'm very pleasedto be backing the 'Check, Switch and Insulate' campaign to help people savemoney.

"I've recently switched my home energy tariff myself afterrealising that I could save nearly £150 a year. I hope that many of myconstituents will be able to do the same. It doesn't take much time to checkhow much you're paying, switch tariff or supplier to make a saving, and theninvestigate whether free or discounted insulation is available to save energyin the home.

"I'm meeting with groups including British Gas, Age UK,Citizens Advice and Save the Children later this week to discuss how we canwork together to make sure that everyone is aware of how to get the best deal."
