Mickleover councillors fight for green spaces

October 21, 2011 7:45 AM
Liberal Democrat councillors in Mickleover have launched a campaign to protect green spaces in their area of the city
Cllr Hilary Jones is concerned that government changes to planning rules could put green spaces at risk from development. She has therefore launched a petition to protect green spaces in Mickleover which can be signed at

Cllr Jones said "To protect our local green spaces we need to ensure that our local rules specifically protect them.I am asking for the city council to write that protection into our local rules. The council is also lobbying government to strengthen planning rules so that green spaces in places like Mickleover can be given greater protection."
