Commenting on Edinburgh Council's decision to reject the Haymarket trams option and back the St Andrews Square scheme, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie MSP said:

"I am immensely relieved that sense has prevailed. The Scottish Government should now quickly confirm they will fund the St Andrews Square scheme so that we can crack on with construction. Any further delays will just rack up the price even higher.

"I have the utmost respect for Lib Dem Leader Jenny Dawe and her team of councillors for standing firm whilst all around was in turmoil. We will have an inquiry later but now let's get on with finishing the job."
