It is hoped that the new market will encourage economic growth by supporting local industry, providing an opportunity for local traders and businesses to network and develop their trade in a sought-after town centre setting.

Traders will be provided with a 10ft x 10ft pitch and all applications will be assessed before a place is granted. Pitches will be free for the remainder of this year and a nominal charge will be introduced in 2012. Traders must be a resident or business rates payer of the borough, provide a stall structure suitable for trade and have valid public liability insurance.

Anyone interested is urged to register quickly! Call Emily Harbrecht on 01372 732520 or email eharbrecht@epsom-ewell.gov.uk.

Liberal Democrat councillors have been talking to council officials about better use of the market place since the beginning of the year and have lodged a Motion to Council concerning the market, management of the town centre and other town centre issues, which is due to be debated in the Autumn. Cllr Alison Kelly added "I am so pleased the council is following up on some of our suggestions and we hope they will look at other "themed" markets on other days of the week when the market place is empty."
