Highlands and Islands Enterprise offering advice sessions on opportunities for working from home

August 18, 2011 3:56 PM

Local MP John Thurso is encouraging anyone who might be interested in new opportunities for working from home to attend one of Highlands and Islands Enterprise's (HIE) advice sessions in Caithness and Sutherland.

HIE has been working with a number of financial and business services to highlight the skills our area has and is holding the advice sessions in advance of a recruitment round by American owned firm Arise UK in Caithness and Sutherland mid-September.

John Thurso said: "Thanks to new technology, working from home to provide business services is now becoming common as companies realise they can tap into a pool of talent among people who are not able to work in a conventional office environment. Hopefully the £70 million in funding for broadband in rural areas of Scotland will make this even easier in future."

"I would urge anyone who has the skills and thinks that the working from home model is for them to go along to one of the HIE events this month."

The events are being held in Thurso on 22nd August, Lochinver 23rd August, Wick on 24th and Golspie on 25th. For more on this story go to Highlands and Islands Enterprise website: www.hie.co.uk
