Green Liberal DemocratsLocal MP Ian Swales will be travelling around the area on Monday afternoon on board a local bus asking people to share their opinions about public transport services in Redcar and Cleveland.
Ian will be launching his Public Transport Survey which aims to collect the views of people across the constituency on issues including the recent decision by Labour-run Redcar and Cleveland Council to axe some services from September.
Ian said:
"Many people in our area, young and old, rely on public transport to go about their daily lives, to travel to work, to school, to shop, to see friends. In fact the proportion of households which have access to a car is far lower in Redcar and the surrounding areas than the national average, making providing a good service even more important.
"By conducting the survey on board a local bus I hope to ensure that the survey reaches those who rely on these services, and use them most frequently."
Ian is keen to hear from people across the Redcar constituency, which covers the area from Ormesby and South Bank, across Redcar to Marske and New Marske.
To allow as many residents as possible to have their say the survey will also be available on this website from the 15th August 2011. Those without access to the internet can also contact Ian's office on 01642 495 704 to request a paper copy.
