Sir Graham Watson has used a recent report on Dolphinaria to highlight the mistreatment of Whales and Dolphins in captivity.
The report comes as a new report to the United Nations on the state of the world's Oceans declares damage to sealife and the marine environment is now irreversible and is threatening more species with extinction.
In a speech in the European Parliament, Watson commented, 'This is not only a major issue for the South West, a region that enjoys diversity of marine wildlife just off its shores, but it is also a major issue for my constituents who care deeply about the treatment of such creatures.'
'The way we treat Cetaceans is a mark of the health of our society. I will continue to campaign against the keeping of Dolphins in Dolphinaria and ensure the South West refrains from exploiting Dolphins and Whales in captivity for commercial reasons.'
