Lib Dems secure Goverment funding for Leeman Rd flood defences

May 1, 2011 7:46 PM

Leeman Rd Flood Defence work will go ahead thanks to the Lib Dems

Simon, Nick and Martin have welcomed the good news that the improvements to the Leeman Road flood defences have got the go-ahead.

At the meeting of the Yorkshire Flood Defence Committee on 21 April it was agreed that the improvements will be in the 2012-13 plan, with £310,000 committed for development work in 2011-12, and £2.89 million in 2012-13.

Key to getting the go-ahead was the £1 million committed to the scheme by Lib Dem-run City of York Council. There will be a public meeting after May so that local residents can find out more, replacing the meeting cancelled last December due to the snow.
