Liberal Democrat Minister, Chris Huhne will visit Cambridge tomorrow (Wednesday, March 30) to meet business leaders and representatives from the city's green tech companies.

Mr Huhne, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change will also be visiting the SmartLIFE Centre at Kings Hedges Road to take a look at the training courses being offered in sustainable construction.

And he will meet Cambridge City Councillors, activists and candidates in the run-up to the local elections.

Mr Huhne's meeting with Cambridge businesses will include representatives from Polysolar, Green Tide Turbines, Cambridge Carbon Capture - which recently won the Shell Springboard competition - and The Technology Partnership. He will discuss the work that is taking place in his department to combat climate change.

Cambridge City Council Leader, Sian Reid, who is hosting Chris' visit to councillors, candidates and activists said: "We are delighted that Chris has found time to come to Cambridge.

"Businesses across Cambridge are undertaking excellent and innovative work to limit the effects of climate change. I am sure it will prove extremely useful to find out more about what is being done in this area at government level.

"Chris' visit is also extremely important for our election campaign locally and I know councillors, activists and candidates will be interested to hear about his work."
