Jo Swinson MP has shown her support for WWF's Earth Hour this Saturday, the world's biggest call for action to protect the planet.

On 26th March between 8:30-9:30pm, families, business and organisations across the world will switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about climate change. To mark the occasion in East Dunbartonshire, lanterns will be released from Baldernock Spring Cycle Festival, and Cumbernauld College in Kirkintilloch is running a prize draw to give away a low-carbon hamper for those who sign up to Earth Hour.

Jo has joined the WWF in supporting the movement by pedalling to power up batteries which will be used to project images of the natural world onto London's Royal Albert Hall during Earth Hour.

Commenting, Jo Swinson said:

"I am delighted to be able to show my support for Earth Hour, and hope to join many East Dunbartonshire residents in switching their lights off this weekend. This global movement is a powerful reminder that as countries and individuals we must join together to tackle climate change.

"Earth Hour is a unique opportunity to join up with millions of people across the globe, from school pupils to multinational companies, and send an important message: by acting on climate change now, we can keep the future bright."
