January 4, 2010 9:00 AM

Jo visited Buchanan Nursery in Bearsden recently for the unveiling of their Green Flag environmental award.

The Green Flag is the highest environmental accolade awarded by the Eco Schools Scotland programme. The flag was awarded in recognition of ongoing action to promote environmental awareness and sustainability in the nursery's everyday practices.

Jo was present for the unveiling of the flag, before being shown around the nursery to see how see its Eco Code is put into practice. She also had the chance to look through the book which the nursery uses to chronicle all of its environmental efforts.

Commenting, Jo said:

"I was genuinely impressed with all of the work Buchanan Nursery has done, from the children making birdfeeders to the greenhouse made out of plastic bottles. The nursery is doing an excellent job of teaching children about the environment and making sustainability concerns a part of everything they do."
