Lord (Bill) Bradshaw, Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesman, will today question the Government's commitment to protecting rural Britain.
Lord Bradshaw will be requesting an early progress report on the Traffic Regulation Order to ban mechanically propelled vehicles from our National Trails, such as The Ridgeway.
Lord Bradshaw will say:
"When the Transport and Railway Safety Act was passed in July 2003, the Government promised action within one year.
"So far there is no sign of progress. The Government is well aware of the amount of time needed to obtain the Traffic Regulation Order, and needs to act immediately if it is to keep to its promise and keep the countryside lobby at bay."
