Local MP, Ian Swales is meeting with representatives from Forewind on Wednesday 16th May 2012 in Westminster to discuss plans relating to their consultation on Offshore Wind Development.

Forewind are proposing to build 'Dogger Bank Teesside' an offshore wind farm development, which will connect to the national grid at Lackenby. It has been suggested that there may be some impact on the local area, which is why this meeting in the preliminary stages of consultation is important.

Ian commented: ''I know that there has been some speculation about where cables may be laid and what disruption may be caused to our area whilst this development is going on. Whilst I am not opposed to offshore wind farms, it is important that we retain our views and areas of outstanding beauty for residents and visitors to the area.''

''This area has seen a lot of development in the last couple of years, and still has major works going on due to regeneration and wind farm development on our coastline. It is important that a balance is struck between development and maintaining a good quality of living for our residents. I hope that this meeting will allow us to have an open conversation about what will be best for Redcar and Cleveland.''
