Swales welcomes investment in green technology
Redcar MP, Ian Swales has welcomed the news that the Government are committing more than £200million over the next four years to Offshore Renewable Energy centres.
These centres will help the Government to take the next steps towards the UK becoming a low carbon economy, focussing on areas like Teesside that already have renewable energy on their doorstep.
A Technology Strategy Board will bring together private and public sector business to support their needs and to build the future economy.
Ian said: ''It is great to see the Government starting to invest in green industry, especially on Teesside, where we have the infrastructure and expertise already in place. ''
''We are home to the North East Process Industry Cluster who are already working towards a low carbon future, and Teesside is home to several companies who contribute in some way to wind, wave and tidal power.''
''I will be contacting those companies to make sure that Teesside gets in on these conversations''
